Area roundup: La Crosse keeps on rolling, moves to 6-0

La CROSSE -- Levi Morss ran for 194 yards and two touchdowns, and caught a TD pass from Jack Garcia as the La Crosse Leopards (6-0) had little trouble with Inman in district play Friday, winning 36-13. Morss scored on runs of 81 and 50 yards, while teammate Kip Keeley scored three rushing TDs, accumulating 166 yards on the ground in the effort. La Crosse had 422 rushing yards, and led 42-7 at halftime after Inman returned the opening kickoff 80 yards for a score. The Leopards travel to Sterling on Friday.

At Bennington, Plainville (3-3) bounced back from last week's loss with a 44-12 win in district play. Plainville led 14-6 at halftime before exploding for 30 second-half points.

In Smith Center, the Redmen picked up win No. 3, outlasting visiting Ell-Saline (4-2), 20-18 in overtime. The difference was a failed two-point coversion by Ell-Saline in the overtime session. Smith Center scored second on a five-yard run by Payton Buckmaster, and Buckmaster ran in the two-pointer for the win.

Ellis (3-3) won its district opener 48-0 against visiting Leoti-Wichita County, and will travel to St. Francis on Friday.
