Smith Center, Hoxie claim titles

The Smith Center High School and Hoxie High School girls' basketball team won state championships Saturday.
Smtih Center defeated Jefferson County North, 63-55 to claim the school's first championship in the Class 2A state tournament at Bramlage Coliseum in Manhattan.
The Hoxie girls completed an undefeated season by defeating top-seeded Olpe, 68-63, in the Class 1A Division I state tourney in Emporia.
It's the second straight state title for Hoxie, which has lost just one game the past two seasons.
