Senior Beth Channell won one individual event and was part of a first-place relay for the Thomas More Prep-Marian girls' swimming team at Monday's TMP Invitational at the FHSU pool.

Channell won the 50-yard freestyle in 30.45 seconds, and swam a leg on the first-place 200 free relay (2:01.61). Also on that relay were sophomore Becca Channell senior Hollie Herbel and junior Maria Marcotte.

The Monarchs' 200 medley relay (2:21.59) and 400 free relay (4:37.31) also took second. Beth Channell, Becca Channell, Marcotte and Herbel were on both relays.

Herbel also finished second in the 200 IM (3:01.48), while Marcotte finished third in the 100 free (1:06.82).

Hays High had a first-place finish in the 200 IM, with freshman Shelbie Berens winning in 2:58.96. Berens also finished third in the 100 backstroke (1:19.19).

The Indians had a 1-3 finish in the 500 free, with junior Courtney Hess winning in 6:45.49, and junior Courtney Kaba third in 7:29.41.

HHS had a 2-3 finish in the 50 freestyle. Hess was second (29.31) and sophomore Taylor Hodny finished third (29.78).

HHS sophomore Mackenzie Lewis took third in the 200 free (2:49.29). Freshman Becky Meagher placed third in the 100 butterfly (1:26.53).

Hodny and junior Arin Straub finished 2-3 in the 100 breaststroke in 1:27.69 and 1:28.87, respectively.

The Indians' 200 free relay was third in 2:09.31. On that relay were Meagher, Berens, Hodny and freshman Emily McPherson. Hays High's 400 free relay also took third in 4:52.22. On that relay were Lewis, Hess, Kaba and sophomore Alexa Steinkuhler.

Hays High won the meet with 477 points. Junction City was second with 412. TMP was fourth among five schools with 295.
