Jarvis wins golf meet, TMP takes 10th

PHILLIPSBURG -- Phillipsburg junior Jeff Jarvis continued his strong season with a win on his home course Monday at the newly named Mel Schremmer Invitational, named for former Panther coach Mel Schremmer, who passed away last year at age 56.
Jarvis, a two-time Class 3A state placer, shot a 70, four shots ahead of runner-up Nolan Smith of WaKeeney-Trego Community, to lead the Panthers to the 6-man team title with a 486. Trego won the 4-man title with a 315, while Trego took home top 4-man honors with a 315.
Thomas More Prep-Marian also competed, shooting a 4-man 384 in 10th place. Freshman Grant Holub led the way for the Monarchs, shooting a 48-44 -- 92, followed by freshman Kyle Braun with a 45-49 --¬ 94.
