Ruder second, TMP sixth at Wamego

WAMEGO -- Thomas More Prep-Marian senior Heather Ruder finished second behind Hillsboro's Emily Sechrist in the 3-2-1A division at the Wamego Invitational on Saturday. Ruder's second-place showing in 15 minutes, 52.84 seconds paired with a 30th-place finish for junior Kayla Walker led TMP to a sixth-place finish with 158 points in the team standings.
Norton took home top honors on the girls' side with 57 points, placing five runners in the top 20. The Bluejays were paced by an eighth-place finish for sophomore Sierra Griffith in 17:06.18.
On the boys' side, Norton junior Marc Miller earned an eighth-place finish in 18:16.48, while junior teammate Alec Hager was 16th.
TMP was led by a 35th-place finish for freshman Andrew Hess in 19;23.13 as the Monarchs finished ninth in the 16-team field.
