ST. JOSEPH, Mo. -- The Fort Hays State University baseball team's season ended Sunday with a 12-10 loss to Missouri Western State University, ranked No. 4 in NCAA Division II. Fort Hays finished the season at 23-22.

The game went back and forth early between two of the nation's top 10 offenses. Missouri Western scored one run in the first, two in the second and two in the third. Fort Hays scored three in the third and one in the fourth.

Then the Tigers had six runs in the sixth before the Griffons tallied five runs in the sixth and two in the eighth. FHSU collected eight hits and took advantage of three Missouri Western errors. The Griffons tallied 17 hits against three Tiger pitchers to move to 37-8. Senior Jesse Hart took the loss in relief after he allowed three hits and two runs, both earned, in 2.1 innings.
