Tiger soccer teams pick up wins

The Fort Hays State University men's and women's soccer teams each picked up wins this weekend.
The Tiger women won 1-0 in overtime on Sunday at Colorado State University-Pueblo.
Freshman forward Kylie Watson scored the goal with 5 minutes, 16 seconds remaining in the extra period. It was the first goal of the season for the Tiger women (1-1) after they lost 1-0 Friday against University of Colorado-Colorado Springs.
FHSU outshot CSU-Pueblo 31-15, with 11 FHSU shots on goal. FHSU sophomore goalkeeper Nicole Barnaba earned the clean sheet and had five saves.
The men's team defeated South Dakota School of Mines 3-2 on Saturday in Lakewood, Colo., and improved to 2-0.
The Tigers outshot SDSM 18-8, but just four of their shots were on goal.
The Tigers didn't claim the lead until the 52nd minute of the game.
SDSM struck first eight minutes in before FHSU senior forward Tomas Mares tied the game 1-1 in the 31st minute.
SDSM again retook the lead in the 40th minute, but FHSU freshman forward Joe Albright quickly responded with a goal on an assist from senior defender Jared Bailey.
Mares broke the tie with the game's final goal in the 52nd minute.
FHSU sophomore goalkeeper Ryan Pakieser allowed two goals and had three saves.
The women's team hosts its first home match at 7 p.m. Wednesday against McPherson College.
The men's team will host the FHSU Soccer Classic on Friday and Sunday with University of Sioux Falls and Colorado Mesa University. The Tigers play Sioux Falls at 8:30 p.m. Friday and Colorado Mesa at 1:30 p.m. Sunday.
