Anastos earns honor

Printer-friendly version

By The Hays Daily News

Fort Hays State University sophomore catcher Jessika Anastos earned first-team honors on the Daktronics All-North Central Region softball team, the second Tiger ever named to a first team all-region squad since Fort Hays joined the NCAA in 1999.

Anastos also was named first-team all-Mid America Intercollegiate Athletics Association and was named to the NFCA All-North Central Region second team.

Outfielder Heather Hitschmann was named to the first South Central team in 2005, the first Tiger named first-team all-region.

Anastos set single-season school records in batting average (.462), home runs (13), runs scored (45), on-base percentage (.525), slugging percentage (.835) and total bases (132). She also tied the single-season record for doubles with 18 and her 44 RBIs were second most in school history.

Fort Hays finished 32-26 this spring.
