Tiger tennis finishes fifth in MIAA tourney

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Fort Hays State University tennis team went 2-1 at the MIAA Championships at the Plaza Tennis Center on Friday and Saturday. FHSU, the No. 5 seed, defeated No. 6 seed Truman State (Mo.) University for fifth place Saturday, 5-1.
Fort Hays lost 5-0 to fourth-seeded Emporia State University and then beat No. 8 Lincoln (Mo.) University 5-0 Saturday morning. The Tigers lost three doubles matches 8-6, 8-6 and 8-4 and singles matches by scores of 6-3, 6-0 and 6-0, 6-3. Against Lincoln, Fort Hays won the singles matches 6-0, 6-0 the doubles matches 8-1, 8-0 and 8-0.
