Several Tigers compete at KU Relays

LAWRENCE -- Several Fort Hays State University track and field athletes performed well at the prestigious KU Relays this past weekend.
Sophomore Makayla McPhail was the top NCAA Division II performer in the javelin when she threw 154-1, the second-best throw in Division II this season.
Sophomore Gabriela Saravia took 11th in the high jump with a mark of 5-5. Sophomore Kylie Gaughan was fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and second among Division II runners. with a time of 11:37.
Junior Alex Hendee took third in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3 minutes, 53.55 seconds and took sixth in the 5,000-meter run in 14:54.61. Hendee was the best Division II runner in the 1,500 and was second-best in the 5,000. Senior Cameron Reith was fifth overall and second for Division II runners with a time of 31:09.
Senior Tim McElroy took seventh in the hammer throw with a mark of 179-2, the best of Division II competitors.
