Pair of road MIAA wins for Tiger volleyball

The Fort Hays State University volleyball team picked up a pair of conference victories on the road this weekend.

The Tigers defeated University of Central Oklahoma (23-25, 26-24, 25-17, 25-22) on Friday and Pittsburg State University (26-24, 28-26, 25-18) on Saturday.

FHSU improved to 8-4 and 2-1 in the MIAA. Pittsburg State dropped to 7-4 and 0-3 in the MIAA, while Central Oklahoma, who lost to No. 1 University of Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday, is 3-7 and 1-2 in the conference.

Against Central Oklahoma, FHSU had to rally to pull off the four-set victory.

Sophomore middle hitter Kylee Hoagland led FHSU with 17 kills and a .609 hitting percentage. Sophomore middle hitter Taylor Mares had 11 kills and just three errors on 20 attempts.

Senior setter Kayla Zoglman had 49 assists and 11 digs, while junior libero Makenzie Weinman led the team with 20 digs.

Against Pittsburg State, Hoagland led the team with 11 kills, while Ulrich had 10.

Zoglman had 36 assists, and Weinman had 22 digs.
