FHSU women fall to Missouri Southern

JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Fort Hays State University women's soccer team lost a close one Friday at Missouri Southern University.
Missouri Southern broke a 1-1 deadlock late in the match to pick up the 2-1 win. It was the Lions' first win of the season, as MSSU improved to 1-5-1 and 1-2 in the MIAA.
The Tigers (4-3, 1-2 MIAA) fell behind early as MSSU's Natascha Lord scored in the 39th minute, but FHSU senior forward Sade Humphrey tied it in the 60th minute.
However, MSSU's Candis Clark scored the go-ahead goal on a header in the 82nd minute on an assist from Cortney Sanders.
FHSU freshman goalkeeper Rachael Schaad finished with two saves.
The Tigers return home to play Friends University at 4 p.m. Monday at FHSU Soccer Stadium.
