HHS baseball's schedule changes with postponements

With Thursday's rainout of a makeup game against Dodge City, the Hays High School baseball team might be in the unenviable position of having to play three games today.
Then again, the Indians might just play its makeup doubleheader at Liberal today.
Hays High and Dodge City had Tuesday's second game of a doubleheader postponed until Thursday because of the weather. With more bad weather threatening Thursday, the teams started the makeup game 20 minutes early, but to no avail.
Hays High was leading 4-1 when the game was stopped by lightning with two outs in the bottom of the second inning.
The teams were still waiting out the lightning delay when torrential rain arrived 47 minutes after the game was stopped, forcing the game to be suspended.
After playing Liberal, the Dodge City game would be made up tonight from where it left off Thursday, if it was necessary in determining home seeding for next week's playoffs.
McPherson (15-5) is finished with its regular season, while Great Bend (15-3) will host a triangular with Dodge City and Hutchinson today, starting about an hour late at 1 p.m. due to a wet field from Thursday night's rain. Hays High (13-4) will be at Liberal for a 4 p.m. doubleheader.
Three teams are battling for two host sites, which makes playing at Dodge City tonight a possibility for HHS.
"It gets a little complicated," Hays High coach Frank Leo said. "If it means something, Dodge City has agreed to play us whenever it can be arranged."
The seeding meeting is Saturday, so all regular-season games have to be completed today.
Hays High will go with junior Kelton Rule (2-2) in Game 1 today against Liberal, with Leo undecided on who his starter will be for Game 2, or for the suspended game against Dodge City, if necessary.
