Hays High baseball rolls by Larned

LARNED -- The Hays High Indians routed Larned 14-0 in five innings and 12-3 on the road Tuesday.
Hays High improved to 9-1, while Larned dropped to 3-8.
Starting strong, Hays High built a 7-0 lead in Game 1 after two innings, and kept the momentum going.
Senior pitcher Chase Young (2-0) earned the victory, as he threw all five innings, struck out seven, walked one and allowed one hit.
Junior left fielder Zach Legleiter had a big day at the plate. He hit a grand slam in the first inning and finished 3-of-3 with two runs scored and five RBIs.
In Game 2, Hays High again had another strong start, building a 9-1 lead after three innings.
Senior pitcher Josh Heifner (1-1) got the win, going five innings, striking out three and allowing two runs -- though none were earned.
Seniors Trevor Henningsen and Riley Kaus each homered for Hays High in Game 2.
Kaus hit 3-of-4 and had three RBIs and three runs, while Henningsen went 2-of-4 and had three RBIs and one run.
Hays High will play Garden City at 4 p.m. Friday at home.
