GREAT BEND -- The Hays Hig School girls' soccer team earned a 3-2 victory against its rival Great Bend on Monday.
The Indians (8-3, 5-1 Western Athletics Conference) fell behind early after Great Bend's Brandi Schnaider scored in the 14th minute.
However, juniors Michele Linville and Taylor Herman scored back-to-back goals in the 30th and 31st minutes to put the Indians up 2-1. Junior Megan Bird and sophomore Lacey Pfannenstiel provided assists.
In the second half, Herman extended the lead with a goal in the 65th minute -- her 11th of the season. She now is three short of tying the Hays High individual season scoring record.
Schnaider responded with a goal in the 71st to narrow the Indians' lead.
Hays High has won four straight and hosts TMP on Thursday at the HHS field.
