Indians compete at McPherson meet

McPHERSON -- The Hays High School cross country teams were without many of their varsity runners Thursday at the McPherson Invitational.
The Indians ran teams largely composed of junior varsity runners, electing to save the varsity harriers for Saturday's meet at Rim Rock.
The boys finished seventh with 161, ahead of Salina Central (161) and Salina South (217), while the girls finished last in sixth place.
Dylan Schmitt and Konner Buxton were the Indian boys' top runners, finishing 23rd and 28th in 19:22 and 19:49, respectively.
Jenna Luebbers and Bailee Leiker led the girls, placing 28th and 31st in times of 18:49 and 19:12, respectively.
