Holub earns All-American Honors

Maddie Holub collected two first team All-American nominations on Monday she delivered a terrific spring for the Fort Hays State University softball team. Holub collected Daktronics first team All-American honors by the nation's sports information directors and then earned first team All-American by the NFCA, the coaches association. Both honors came at pitcher.
Holub is the first Tiger to receive first team All-American honors by both organizations in the same season. In 2008, Jessika Anastos collected first team All-American honors by Daktronics at catcher.
Holub finished 29-4 with a 1.03 earned-run average with 26 complete games, 13 shutouts, three saves and 345 strikeouts in 224 innings pitched. She pitched seven no-hitters and two perfect games. She finished with a .426 batting average,19 homers and 56 RBI.
Holub and University of Tampa's Kayla Cox were the only pitchers named first team All-American. However, Holub defeated Cox in a 2-1 game on March 6.
She set 12 single season records and finished with 33 career total records for career, single-season and single-game marks. Holub had previously earned Daktronics Central Region Pitcher of the Year and the MIAA Pitcher and Player of the Year.
