Larks take loss

EL DORADO -- The Hays Larks lost, 4-2, on the road to the El Dorado Broncos on Wednesday night. El Dorado scored three runs in the third inning and one in the seventh.

Hays tallied single runs in the sixth and eighth innings. Hays remained a half game in front of the Broncos with the final game of the series set for tonight.

Hays moved to 23-9, 16-9 Jayhawk League and El Dorado dropped to 19-12, 16-11.

Larks starter Jason Zgardowski worked five innings and allowed three runs on eight hits with one strikeout and two walks.

Dalton Viner relieved and worked 1.2 innings, allowing one run on one hit with two strikeouts and three walks.

Ian Bentley worked four outs and allowed no runs with two strikeouts and one walk.

El Dorado left 13 runners on base, and Hays left five. The Broncos struck out nine Larks and didn't walk a single batter all night.

The Larks had five hits, and Aaron Cornell went 2 of 4 with a run scored. Cornell had the Larks' only extra base hit with a double.
