Eagles pick up Friday win

BLUE SPRINGS, Mo. -- The Hays Eagles improved to 2-2 at the Blue Springs tournament with a 10-4 victory against Elsberry, Mo., on Friday. The Eagles moved to 37-7 this season and were expected to play again Saturday.
Austin Unrein improved to 7-1 with five innings of seven-hit ball. He allowed four runs, three earned, with eight strikeouts against four walks. Clayton Basgall finished the game with two innings of scoreless relief. Catcher Jarrett Sanders went 4 for 4 with three doubles, four RBIs and a run scored. Hays trailed 2-0 after the first inning, but then scored in six straight innings.
The Eagles tallied one in the second, two in the third, one in the fourth, three in the fifth, two in the sixth and one in the seventh. Hays collected 12 hits against one error, while Elsberry had nine hits and three errors.
Basgall finished 2-of-5, while Unrein was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and two RBIs. Left fielder Taylor Renz finished 2-of-4 with a double and a run scored.
