Kuehl to defend Merchants title

Printer-friendly version

By The Hays Daily News

Jamie Kuehl is scheduled to be back to defend his title this weekend in the 34th annual Hays City Merchants golf tournament.

Kuehl trailed first-day leader Steve Brungardt by two shots last year, but had the best round of the day Sunday to win the title by one stroke.

This year's tourney has 44 entries, with play scheduled for Saturday at Smoky Hill Country Club and Sunday at Fort Hays Municipal Golf Course.

Last year, Kuehl won shooting 141. Lyle Christensen, Bryan VonFeldt and Charlie Giebler finished in a three-way tie for second at 142. Brungardt was next at 143.
