WICHITA -- The Thomas More Prep-Marian boys' soccer team fell 6-0 to Wichita North on Tuesday at the Wichita North Cup.
The Monarchs (3-7) fell behind early, and the snowball kept rolling down hill against them in the second half.
Wichita North (7-2-2) scored two goals in the first half and four in the second half.
Midfielder Noel Martinez scored the opening goal in the 10th minute, shooting a ground ball through the midfield and defense, and junior goalkeeper Collan Lawson didn't see it.
In the 38th minute, midfielder Jesus Fernandez added a goal attacking along the left side.
North scored three more goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half, as Cobi Black, Christian Orona and Juan Barron scored in the 46th, 50th and 55th minutes, respectively.
Wichita North defender Sami Sabrah added the final goal in the 70th minute.
TMP switched goalkeepers with 20 minutes remaining. Lawson finished with six saves on 11 shots on goal, and sophomore Keynan Hysten had two saves on three shots on goal.
TMP will face Garden City (11-2) in the consolation bracket at 3:15 p.m. at the 25th Street Soccer Complex.
The Buffaloes, who defeated Hays High 2-1 on Tuesday, entered the tournament in the place of Wichita Heights, who fell to Liberal 4-1. Heights only needed one game to fill its schedule while Garden City needed two games, so Heights and Garden City decided to split up the three tournament games.
