TMP soccer picks up win at Wichita

WICHITA -- The Thomas More Prep-Marian boys' soccer team picked up a 10-0 win in the seventh-place match against Wichita-Word of Life at the Wichita North Cup Tournament.
The Monarchs (4-8) forced the mercy rule in the 47th minute on a goal by sophomore forward Liam Stults. Stults recorded a hat trick in the match, posting goals in the eighth and 20th minutes as well.
Senior midfielder Carlos Duenes also had three goals (27th, 37th and 39th minutes) and had five assists.
Sophomore midfielder Jorge Murra added two goals, and sophomore midfielder Jack Yu had four assists.
Sophomores Jordan Pfannenstiel and Tyler Rueschoff also recorded goals, and Rueschoff added an assist.
TMP posted 23 shots on goal against Word of Life (0-8), and TMP junior goalkeeper Collan Lawson finished with two saves.
Word of Life's starting goalkeeper left the game with a broken finger on a collision with Duenes in the fifth minute.
