Old-fashioned wheat harvest set for July 9

ALTON -- The Clifford Roach family's annual old-fashioned wheat harvest is scheduled for 2 p.m. July 9. The farm is 2 1/2 miles southwest of Alton.

It features demonstrations of self-propelled and pull-type combines, wheat binder, header and barge, threshing machine, buzz saw and plowing and harvesting with mules.

The demonstration is free, but bring your own water jug and lawn chair.
