Alzheimer's walk set for Saturday

On Saturday at Gross Memorial Stadium on the Fort Hays State University campus, participants of the 2012 Walk to End Alzheimer's will lace up their shoes to walk for a cause.
The event, which raises money for Alzheimer's research and public presentations, begins at 10 a.m. after an opening ceremony.
Jan Evans, Alzheimer's Association outreach coordinator for central and western Kansas, said registration for the event begins at 9:30 a.m. if participants do not register online before the event.
There is no cost to participate.
Evans said if a person raises $100 in donations, the participant will receive a T-shirt.
Evans said participants can enter to walk the mile as a group.
"A team would consist of three or more members, but a person can walk as an individual," Evans said.
She said the team and individual who raises the most money will receive an award Saturday.
The day also will feature door prizes and refreshments for the participants, Evans said.
