Golden Plains Credit Union employee Terry Bottorf received the 2012 Member Service Award at Golden Plains' annual meeting on April 16 in Garden City. The Member Service Award is presented to a Golden Plains' employee who has exemplified outstanding member service. Bottorf has worked at Golden Plains for five years, and he is assistant vice president of lending for the Hays location. Golden Plains has 10 locations throughout central and western Kansas, with approximately 55,600 members and $404 million dollars in assets.

Jessica Estes has joined the staff of the the Dodge City Area Chamber of Commerce as marketing director. She will oversee all chamber marketing avenues including the website, newsletter, social media, creative design and advertising and also serve as the chamber liaison to several committees.
Estes is a Dodge City native and a 2011 graduate of Fort Hays State University, with a bachelor's degree in communication studies with an emphasis in advertising. Upon graduating from FHSU, Estes returned to Dodge City, where she worked in the marketing and public information office at Dodge City Community College.

Deloris Farthing, director of health information at Hays Medical Center, has passed the certification exam for Health Information Technology Professional-Trainer and earned the credential of HIT Pro-TR from Northern Virginia Community College and American Health Information Management Association. Farthing also holds the credentials of registered health information administrator and certified health data analyst. She has been with HaysMed since 2003.

Shyla Hughes and Dalton Wolfe of McDonald's of North Hays have been promoted to the position of swing manager. Hughes has been with the restaurant since July 2010 and was promoted to crew trainer in July 2011. Wolfe has been with the restaurant since August 2011 and became a crew trainer in May 16. Owners Rick and Gail Kuehl, who own McDonald's in Hays, Colby, Rusell and WaKeeney, employ more than 195 full and part-time workers.

Western Kansas Human Resource Management Association will meet at 11:15 a.m. May 21 at Thirsty's, 2704 Vine. The program is "FLSA" presented by Susan Lang, investigator for the U.S. Department of Labor, Wage and Hour Division. The division conducts investigations of employers to determine compliance and also conducts outreach events to educate employers and employee associations about the protections of the laws enforced. Lang's 90-minute presentation will discuss which businesses are subject to the federal law, minimum wage, overtime, timekeeping and child labor.
