Colby woman's death under investigation

COLBY -- The suspicious death of a 27-year-old Colby woman is

under investigation after she was found unresponsive in a burning house

early Saturday.

The woman was not being identified Saturday evening by law enforcement.

According to a news release from the Colby Police Department, the woman

was found near the front of a house in the 100 block of South

Chickamauga Street by emergency responders responding to a report of a

house fire at 6:59 a.m.

The woman was transported to Citizen's Medical Center, where she later died, the release said.

The Colby Police Department is being assisted in the investigation by

the Kansas Bureau of Investigation, the Thomas County Sheriff's Office,

the State Fire Marshal's Office and the Kansas Highway Patrol.
