Seven in family injured when SUV rolls

BUNKER HILL -- Several members of a Colorado family were injured Sunday evening after an attempt to pass a semi on Interstate 70 went wrong.

BUNKER HILL -- Several members of a Colorado family were injured Sunday evening after an attempt to pass a semi on Interstate 70 went wrong.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2004 Chevy Suburban driven by Steven Johnson, 44, Colorado Springs, Colo., was eastbound on I-70 just east of the Bunker Hill exit when it attempted to pass the semi. The trailer being pulled by the SUV became unstable and the Suburban entered the median before over-correcting, entering the south ditch and rolling several times.

Johnson was not injured, but seven family members were transported to Russell Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries. All were wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.

Passenger Kristen Johnson, 43, Colorado Spring, was flown to Via Christie Medical Center in Wichita. Also injured were Samuel Johnson, 14; Jake Johnson, 14; Hannah Johnson, 18; Daniel Johnson, 12; Anagrace Johnson, 9; and Chloe Johnson, 6, all of Colorado Springs.
