County building project advances

The Ellis County Commission will have its regular meeting at 6:45 p.m. Monday at the Ellis County Courthouse.

Among business to be discussed:

* The commission, acting as the Public Building Commission, will consider a resolution to take up financing for the EMS/Rural Fire building; the courthouse/jail renovation; renovation of two county administrative buildings at 718 Main and 601 Main.

* Commissioners also will consider a resolution that authorizes the issuance of bonds to finance the projects, at an estimated cost of $14.5 million. The resolution is subject to referendum, for the consideration of Ellis County voters.

* Bids were opened Friday for purchase of water trucks for Rural Fire District No. 1. Rural Fire Chief Dick Klaus, who is in the process of comparing bids to specifications, might not be able to have a recommendation at Monday's meeting.
