County OKs bonds for projects
In a special meeting Monday at the Ellis County Courthouse, the Ellis County Commission approved issuing bonds for two projects.
One project was refinancing debt for improvements made approximately five years ago to Bridge 260, located west of Fort Hays State University on Eighth Street. The amount for the project is $694,500. By refinancing, the county saves approximately $100,000.
The other project is road improvements on U.S. Highway 40 in two areas, from Yocemento to Ellis and also a 7-mile stretch in the eastern part of the county. Cost for that project is $4.5 million.
Total cost for the two projects is $5,194,500, plus interest.
The commission approved the resolution 2-0. Commissioner Barbara Wasinger was absent.
