Downs man killed in accident
OSBORNE -- A Downs man was killed at 10:15 a.m. Sunday when his car crossed center and struck a farm truck head-on, the Kansas Highway Patrol reported.
Grady Martin Carl, 27, was driving a 2005 Hyundai Elantra northbound on U.S. Highway 281, approximately 5 miles north of Osborne, when he struck a truck-hopper rig driven by Bruce N. Stockman, 71, Kirwin. The truck caught fire and was destroyed to the point it was unidentifiable by officers.
Carl was killed in the accident. The KHP reported was not wearing a seat belt.
Stockman was taken to Osborne County Memorial Hospital and later flown to Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Neb., for treatment of injuries.
