Incumbent John Douglas, 500 E. 11th in Ellis, filed Wednesday for re-election to the Ellis City Council. Douglas seeks a second two-year term on the governing body. Douglas is an employee of Trego Rural Water District Number 2 and a resident of the city since 1992. Douglas began his council service in 2010.

Douglas joins incumbent Lyle Johnston and former council member John Walz as the third candidate to file for three seats to be decided April 3.

Candidates can file at Ellis City Hall, 815 Jefferson. Office seekers can pay a $5 filing fee or file a petition to avoid the fee. The filing deadline is noon Jan. 24.

Voter registration forms are available at various locations, including City Hall and the Ellis County clerk's office in Hays. Voter registration for city elections ends at the close of business March 13.
