Ellis woman arrested following hit and run
ELLIS -- A motorist allegedly involved in a hit-and-run accident Sunday morning in Ellis appeared Tuesday before Magistrate Judge Richard Flax in Ellis County District Court on a probable cause affidavit.
Ellis County Attorney Tom Drees said Jessica L. Owston, 23, was arrested Monday evening and was being held in the Ellis County Jail in lieu of $20,000 bond. Drees said Owston's last known address was in Ellis.
Ellis Police Chief Taft Yates said Tuesday there was a hit-and-run accident between 6 and 6:30 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Cottonwood. He said the pedestrian was treated and released at Hays Medical Center. After an investigation, the alleged driver was found, Yates said.
Drees has one week to file charges.
