Author to speak at Historic Fort Hays

PLEASANTON -- The Kansas Historical Society announced author Debra Goodrich Bisel will present her new book "The Civil War in Kansas: Ten Years of Turmoil at Fort Hays State Historic Site" at 7 p.m. Friday. Following the presentation, Bisel will answer questions and sign copies of her book, which will be available for sale.

Bisel is president of the Shawnee County Historical Society and co-president of the Civil War Roundtable of Eastern Kansas.

Admission is $5 for adults and $1 for students. Kansas Historical Foundation members and children 5 and younger are admitted free.

Fort Hays is located at 1472 U.S. Highway 183 Alternate, 4 miles south of Hays I-70 exit 157 on Highway 183 Alternate.
