Students warned after threatening tweets

In response to Twitter threats against individual students Tuesday, Hays High School administrators have asked students to be aware of anything unusual, said Mike Hester, principal.

Hester said students were talking about the threats, and the school fielded calls from concerned parents, so administrators made an announcement asking students to be alert. Staff members also were notified, and custodians asked to be on the lookout for anything suspicious.

However, the school was not locked down.

The Hays Police Department has been notified of the threats, and "authorities are looking into it," Hester said.

There have been no reports of any actual incidents beyond the threatening tweets.
