Rep. Holmes files for Senate seat
TOPEKA -- This week, State Rep. Mitch Holmes, R-St. John, filed for election to the 33rd State Senate District, which includes Pratt, Kiowa, Stafford, Edwards, Pawnee, Hodgeman, Barton, Rush, Ness, Lane and Scott counties.
Holmes is completing for his fourth term in the Kansas House of Representatives. Holmes serves as chairman of the House Pensions and Benefits Committee.
During the past eight years, Holmes has served on several committees, including Education, Appropriations, Public Safety Budget, Federal and State Affairs, Judiciary, Local Government, Utilities, Joint Energy and Environment, Insurance and Banking, Veterans' Affairs and Homeland Security.
