NEWTON — The Quinter Bulldogs captured win No. 12 on the season, taking a 28-26 win over No. 1 ranked Baileyville B&B in the Eight-Man, Division I state championship Saturday at Fischer Field in Newton.

Quinter, which won its 10th straight game, captured its first state title since 1992 as senior Matt Bird intercepted a pass in the closing seconds to seal the victory over the Falcons, the defending champions riding a 25-game winning streak.
