Schmidt recognized for voting record

TOPEKA -- Sen. Allen C. Schmidt, D-Hays, was recognized today for achieving a near-perfect voting record during the 2012 legislative session. Schmidt missed only one vote during the 2012 session in order to attend the unveiling of a sign designating the Interstate 70 and U.S. Highway 183 interchange in Hays in memory of local war hero Army CW2 Bryan J. Nichols and all fallen veterans. Schmidt introduced and carried the bill in the Senate chamber.

The Legislature met for 99 days during the 2012 session, during which time 410 recorded votes were cast. In total, lawmakers considered 749 pieces of legislation and signed 152 into law.
