The Smith Center prep football team saw it's nation-best 11-man, 79-game winning streak come to an end at the hands of Centralia on Saturday in the Class 2-1A state championship game at Lewis Field Stadium in Hays.

Centralia punched a touchdown and 2-point conversion across in overtime to take a 20-12 victory, snapping Smith Center's streak of not only 79 games but also five straight 2-1A state championships. Smith Center fumbled the ball on its first play from scrimmage in overtime and Centralia recovered to secure the title.

The Redmen end their season at 12-1, while Centralia moves to 13-1 with the victory.
