Gaylord man killed in accident

SMITH CENTER -- A Gaylord man was killed at 7 p.m. Thursday in a single-vehicle accident southwest of Smith Center.
According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, David Beckman, 59, was killed after he lost control of his 2008 Chevrolet pickup on County Road 240, 1 mile west of U.S. Highway 281.
Beckman was westbound when he failed to negotiate a curve and struck an embankment. The KHP reported he was not wearing a seat belt.
