Auto World chefs awarded Golden Ladle at event
Cathy and Doug Pfannenstiel, Auto World, were the winners of the Golden Ladle Award at Sunday's Humane Society of the High Plains 16th annual Soup 'R Bowl for their cheesy potato soup.
Second prize was claimed by the Hays High School Book Club, sponsored by Elizabeth Harris and Melanie Folkerts. They prepared cheeseburger soup and rommegrot, a Norwegian dessert soup.
Treva Benoit, Kathy Deines and Amy Schmidt, Cedar View Assisted Living, took third prize with their taco soup.
"We had a really successful Soup 'R Bowl," said Marilyn Marshall, a Humane Society board member.
More than 600 tickets were sold, and proceeds amounted to $6,596, said Virginia Clapp, co-chairwoman of the event.
