Some children's holiday will be a little brighter this year because of the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.
The management and employees at S&W Supply and its parent company Warehouse Corp. is participating in this year's campaign.
The business is a distributor for Federated Auto Parts. When Federated signed on to become a corporate sponsor for the toy drive, "we jumped on board," said Ryan Bickle, vice president of sales and coordinator of the drive.
There are 38 collection points for toys in western Kansas, including two in Hays -- S&W, 300 E. Eighth, and Big D's Rent All, 1110 E. 22nd.
"Hays is big enough we thought we just as well have two," Bickle said.
The others are at the seven other S&W Supply retail locations and those businesses associated with Warehouse Corp.
Bickle said he wanted to get as many collection points as he could, and response has been excellent.
Donations must be new toys in their original packaging, but not gift-wrapped. The toys should be something a person would want to give a child in their own family and can be for ages up to 12.
Bickle said he took his two sons, 4 and 7, to shop for some of the toys, and they had fun choosing toys to give others.
People also can donate money, "but buying gifts is more fun," he said.
The deadline to drop off toys at one of the locations is Dec. 5.
Bickle said they are teaming up with the Graham County Toys for Tots to distribute the toys in northwest Kansas since the Toys for Tots foundation recommends pairing with an established group at least for the first year.
There's also a Facebook page "Toys For Tots -- Federated Auto Parts"
"We hope to fill as many trucks as we can, so kids can get toys," Bickle said.
