Summer 2003: Distributed Generation Systems, Inc., determines project site after search of western Kansas for project criteria.

Sept. 15, 2003: First 14 easement agreements were filed by landowners.

Oct. 20, 2003: Ellis County Commission minutes: David Yearout of the Wichita-based Baughman and Co. said via e-mail that he would be willing to make a presentation regarding countywide zoning.

December 2003: Meteorological equipment installed on nearby communications tower.

Feb. 28, 2005: Ellis County Commission minutes: David Yearout delivers presentation on countywide zoning.

May 9, 2005: Commissioners ratified a resolution appointing the Ellis County Planning and Zoning Commissioners.

Ellis County Commission minutes: year-long moratorium adopted for countywide zoning.

May 23, 2005: First meeting of the Ellis County Joint Planning Commission.

The members were: Gene Bittel, Jo Kraus (vice-chairman), Charles Rohr, Richard Weber, Jim Scheck, Leo Dorzweiler, Kent Laas and Lance Russell (chairman).

Aug. 8, 2005: Ellis County Commission minutes: Eric Simons with Distributed Generation Systems, Inc., delivers a presentation. This is the first and only presentation before County Commissioners to date.

Aug. 29, 2005: Ellis County Commission minutes: letter of project support endorsed by commissioners.

July 2006: Project purchased by Competitive Power Ventures.

Aug. 28, 2006: County Commission minutes: countywide zoning regulations are adopted. The resolution is enforced Sept. 1, 2006.

March 3, 2007: Conditional Use Permit filed by CPV with the Ellis County Planning and Zoning Commission.

March 28, 2007: Ellis County Planning and Zoning Commission public hearing.

May 8, 2007: Project purchased by Iberdrola Renewable Energies USA, Ltd.

May 23, 2007: Ellis County Planning and Zoning Commission public hearing scheduled to resume at 7 p.m.
