Crash at Decatur Co. intersection sends 4 to hospital

OBERLIN -- A two-vehicle accident south of Oberlin sent four people to the hospital Sunday.

Adam Overmiller, 23, Oberlin, was southbound on U.S. Highway 83 approaching the intersection of U.S. 83 and Kansas highways 383 and 23 at about 5:50 p.m. Sunday.

Meanwhile, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Bill Navarre Jr., 47, Winnie, Texas, was driving northeast on U.S. 83, also approaching the intersection.

Overmiller's vehicle entered the intersection. Navarre attempted to avoid Overmiller's car, but struck it in the passenger side, according to the highway patrol.

Overmiller, his passenger, Sherri Stouffer, 47, Schoenchen, Navarre and his passenger, Rosemary Cantu, 42, were wearing safety restraints. All were transported to Decatur County Hospital, Oberlin.

Finally, a crash story about someone who actually wore their seatbelts. Suprise! They are still alive! Another tragedy averted because someone took the time to buckle up. Get the message people!
