Russell motorcyclist killed near Hoisington
HOISINGTON -- A Russell man was struck and killed Saturday by a motorist while he was attempting to upright his motorcycle on U.S. Highway 281 approximately 2 miles south of Hoisington.
Julian H. Gonzales, 46, was standing in the roadway just before 10 p.m. Saturday, trying to stand up his motorcycle, when he was struck by a southbound vehicle, according to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Gonzales was taken to Clara Barton Hospital, Hoisington, where he later died. The driver of the vehicle, Kadie D. Halzle, 20, St. John, was not injured, according to the KHP report. The accident occurred just minutes after a Hoisington man lost control of his motorcycle at the same location, according to KHP reports.
