A three-judge panel from the Kansas Court of Appeals will convene in Hays next week, listening to oral arguments in eight Kansas cases.
The three judges also will render decisions on 10 other cases that were submitted without oral argument.
Judges at Tuesday and Wednesday's session at the Ellis County Courthouse will include Chief Judge Thomas E. Malone and Judges Henry W. Green Jr. and Melissa Standridge.
The three are part of the larger 13-member Court of Appeals, which frequently ventures out into the state in three-judge panels.
Last year, the full court issued decisions on 1,700 appeals.
Cases on tap for oral argument include malpractice claims, both legal and medical, child custody, tax assessment, lifetime post release supervision as cruel and unusual punishment, rights in a DUI case, and a case involving mineral rights.
Two of the cases are from Ellis County.
