Man arrested after HaysMed incident

A 59-year-old man has been taken into protective custody after barricading himself into a third-floor room at Hays Medical Center and threatening to harm himself.

The call came shortly after 6 p.m. Tuesday, according to Hays Police Don Scheibler.

Hospital security cleared the area around the room and notified police, who were able to divert the man's attention away from one door and force their way into the room through a second door.

The man was taken into custody, and no one was injured in the incident.
