Winners from last weekend's Kansas City Barbecue Society-sanctioned contest in Hays have been announced by Downtown Hays Development Corp. Director Traci Konrade.

The grand champion team was Bean Goat BBQ, Bennington, and reserve grand champion was Double Trouble BBQ, Quinter. Rub-N-Tail Chug-N-Ale, Hays, were winners of the appetizer contest.

The contest was held in conjunction with the Blues, BBQ & Bargains event. According to Konrade, she was "very pleased" with the turnout at the weekend's activities.

"It's a really unique event, and I think the people who do come down really enjoy it, that's our goal," she said. "We had more teams than we have had in the past and we just hope it continues to grow."
