Boil water advisory issued for Country View Mobile Home Park
Special to The Hays Daily News
TOPEKA -- The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has issued a boil water advisory for Country View Mobile Home Park public water system. This public water supply serves the Country View Mobile Home Park in Hays.
During the past several months, the park owner/manager has failed to monitor and maintain the public water supply for the mobile home park in accordance with state and federal drinking water requirements. The microbiological quality of the water produced by the system is unknown, and residents are advised to boil their water until further notice from KDHE.
Customers should observe the following precautions until further notice:
* Boil water for one minute prior to drinking or food preparation, or use bottled water.
* Dispose of ice cubes and do not use ice from a household automatic ice-maker.
* Disinfect dishes and other food contact surfaces by immersion for at least one minute in clean tap water that contains one teaspoon of unscented household bleach per gallon of water.
* Water used for bathing does not generally need to be boiled. Supervision of children is necessary while bathing so water is not ingested. Persons with cuts or severe rashes might consult physicians.
KDHE district office staff are notifying residents of the boil water advisory.
Local media outlets will be notified when the boil water advisory has been rescinded.
