The Ellis County Sheriff's office is asking for help in the identification of four people who are believed to have been involved in the theft of checks from two Hays businesses.

At least 14 forged checks have since been passed through various local banks and businesses in Ellis County, according to a statement issued by Ellis County Sheriff's detective Brad Ricke.

Business account checks were taken from Midwestern Pipeworks, 315 W. 55th, and J Corp., 1707 E. 10th. The burglaries both were reported Nov. 21. It's believed the burglaries had occurred earlier in the week.

The sheriff's office is asking for help in the identification of four people who have passed the checks. The four are believed to have visited local businesses either looking for employment or acting like they were there on business.

Anyone with information about the identify of the four Hispanic males are asked to call the sheriff's office at (785) 625-1040.
