SALINA. (AP) — Troopers say a man has been shot inside a Salina church after a chase with the Kansas Highway Patrol.

Trooper J.L. Riedel says troopers began pursuing the suspect’s sport utility vehicle around 9:45 a.m. Saturday on a paved county road south of Salina. About 10 minutes later, the man pulled up to the Emmanuel Christian Center and ran inside a front area that was under construction.

Riedel says a trooper shot the man once when he presented an undisclosed type of weapon.

The man has been taken to a hospital.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation is reviewing what happened, which is standard procedure when a law enforcement officer is involved in a shooting.

No other information was immediately released.
